big surprises in big packages…

Hey guys,

These past few years have been an interesting time for me. Within the space of just a few months (a few years ago) I committed myself to an all out mission to be a . Then within just a matter of a couple minutes (through research) I received the dream shattering news that a very large and unexpected percentage (95%) of those traveling on a are traveling towards a dead end.

Now I am long past worrying about how to make it in the music business… but having this cold reality hit me then was enough to make me give up.

(By the way, this “surprise” seemed to be a recurring theme in my life. I think it’s just a matter of denial… my inspiration jumped high, but I avoided thinking about obstacles.)

So what did I do?

Well, I did the same thing I always do when I’m crossed with facts forcing me to accept failure… I surrounded the suppressing reality through research and exposed its loop holes. Then I did what any stubborn/in love with something, individual would do… I capitalized on the weaknesses of what bothered me and found a way in!

That’s the really sweet thing about this business… if you pursue it correctly that is.

The idea is this… one of the most important goals of your success is to grow in understanding of what you love.

This is something you should be doing right now – gathering your very own group of facts. But beyond just gathering a mountain of information, you need to be romancing the manifestation of your research. If you’re networking with others, this is a very easy thing to do… It’s that simple.

Once you’ve done that, bringing in large surges of opportunity gets to be pretty simple.

A couple years ago, I bought into the “indie” way of success… The beautiful thing about the indie way is there are always big opportunities in SEVERAL different areas of success! As opposed to having someone do everything for you… you’ll become crippled. You’ll tend to not be able to relate to others and worse off can’t drive the OTHER avenues of success due to not knowing.

Research enlightened me to my real worth… like getting paid for writing, producing and recording in addition to performing. It showed me (me personally) that I’m a quadruple threat… not just a performance artist.

Research is the “formula to success” that I’ve created over the years (actually, “created” might be a bit much… you could probably say I “stumbled” on the formula).

My famous experiment…

Once I learned the specifics of my dream and my true worth I realized I had researched about 20 different careers to understand my quadruple threat! Why so many…? I had to learn what aspects of the industry were going to help me with mine… I needed to know who I’d be working with. In doing this I learned A LOT! I was going to need income and on a side note was amazed how many other music industry dream seekers were lost.

So, I did something that people have been asking for – I decided to take on the music industry in excruciating detail and expose from A-Z the actual opportunities available. This could create income for me and gives others a fighting chance to be part of the 5% that actually will make it in this business. A “formula to success” if you will…

(I call it the ““… one advantage is being able to view your very own “blue print” to success from the 1st starting position all the way up to your big money, big name and maybe big fame reality.

It’s also intended to be used to LAUNCH your own music empire such as a record label, music studio, record distribution company, etc. In researching your establishment, my guide is built to show you what types of employees you’ll need to seek.

I added all the essentials… job title’s (and alternative titles) job descriptions, expected salaries, what education you should bring, what experience within the music industry you should have or seek, the estimated chances of obtaining you career of interest, a music industry glossary, additional resources to further your education and more.

Oh yeah! On a side note, I wanted to take some time and thank everyone for the responses to my … they’re really gratifying. It’s ALWAYS nice to get that kind of feedback when you pour your heart and soul into something.

Anyway… this home-study guide will focus on the ways to enter into these big opportunity windfalls – starting with structuring your knowledge of the music business so you are set up for success… and your competition, set up to fail. Then just continue all the way through the exact careers of actions you need to take during your launch or re-launch of destiny.

Basically, what I did was amplified the entire concept of working smart vs. working hard and created a one-on-one guide giving you a true foundation to build on.

I have been working night and day for 16 months on this – and I am getting very close to finishing it up – but it’s still about 2 or 3 weeks away from release.

I’ll be sending you more details as they become available.

In the meantime, if you have anything that you think I absolutely MUST cover in this guide, let me know ASAP. Send me your questions? Send me your hurdles and obstacles? I truly want to hear from you!

There is still time for me to add more material… lets make it yours!

Best regards,

Dave

How To Tune A Guitar Simply and Effectively

Posted by Music Careers On September - 15 - 2008

It really makes no difference how good a you are, if your instrument is not tuned up correctly you will never produce a good sound. It is, therefore, important that your learn how to tune your guitar properly very early on in your musical experience. A perfect is someone who not only plays good guitar but who also takes care of the instrument just like his child. It includes cleaning and polishing the guitar regularly, changing the strings, storing it in its suitable place and moreover, most importantly, it is necessary to know . Tuning is essential in order to keep the instrument sounding well. Therefore, not only the established artist but also the beginners should get acquainted with every prospects of tuning.

So, let’s talk about . When it comes to guitars, it doesn’t matter whether you play an electric guitar, acoustic guitar or a classical one. The strings at the so called standard-E tuning are always tuned the same.

Some basics first. The most widely used is the standard-E tuning. It means that the strings produce tones E, A, D, G, B, e. If you need to remember that (to impress some girls, for instance), you can always think of a sentence: Eat All Day, Get Big Easy.

So, the thickest string (the top one) has to be tuned to the E note. How to do that? Well, the first option is to match it with the E note on the piano or another properly tuned guitar. The other option is to use a special instrument, the so called tuning fork. It produces the tone of 440 Hz, which is exactly what you need. But to really match the right tone requires quite a good ear for music and some experience. The best option almost always turns out to be a purchase of a special gadget, called . It has a little display that shows you which way to turn your tuning pegs while playing a single string. There is a free option as well – you can get one of the guitar tuning programs and install them on your computer, if it has a microphone. A huge majority of modern computers and especially laptops do have them.

Once your E string is tuned, the rest is pretty easy. If you have an electronic tuner of any kind, it will show you exactly how to tune all of the other strings. If you do not have one, you need to hold your E string on the fifth fret and match it with your A string. You still remember that the A string is the second thickest string, right? Once your A string is properly tuned, hold it on the fifth fret and tune the D string. And the same goes for the G string. But – life is not that easy, is it? We do have an exception. To tune your B string, you need to hold the G string on the FOURTH fret. For tuning the e string (the last one), hold the B string on the fifth fret again.

You can use a pitch pipe to tune your guitar if you wish and this takes very little effort. You simply need to blow through the relevant holes in the pitch pipe and adjust the strings of your guitar until they match up with the notes. You should start with the sixth E string and do the top E string before moving on to the others.

What could be simpler than an electronic tuner? This has a display screen which tells you whether the notes are in tune or not. You strum one string at a time, the tuner assesses the tone and lets you know whether it is correct or needs adjusting higher or lower to get it just right.
